LSU at Boise-Everybody knows about BSU Head Coach Chris Petersen and his uncanny ability to allow for the gadget play, but they don’t call Les Miles the Mad Hatter for nothing! Miles can make the LSU faithfuls’ blood boil sometimes, but when he pulls off a game winning trick play it’s usually unbelievable. Both teams have a tendency to use the whole field with multiple formations and deep personnel. Even LSU fans wouldn’t mind seeing their Tigers on the Blue Turf at least once.
Date: September 2013
TCU at Ohio State-After Gordon Gee’s inflammatory comments a year ago about the “little sisters of the poor”, this would be a fantastic matchup. Let’s face it, this game will lose some of it’s little guys/big guys appeal after TCU bolts to the Big East next season, but we can still get some good mileage out of it if we do it in 2012. If OSU drops UAB on September 22nd, and TCU drops Virginia, we could play this one at Jerry’s world! Come to think of it, the upset factor would be much more dramatic if TCU could pull it off at the Horseshoe.
Date: September 22nd, 2012

Notre Dame vs. Cincinnati-It’s not so much that this would be intriguing to watch as it is that it needs to happen. Cincinnati Head Coach Butch Jones has taken over for Brian Kelley at his last two jobs (Central Michigan, Cincy) and this matchup would almost be a metaphysical one. If you remember the Jean Claude Van Damme hit Timecop, you know the future “you” cannot come in contact with the past “you”. This game would give Kelley the chance to shake the Jones association once and for all, or give the student the chance to become the master. Either way, the two are associated (perhaps unfairly) and a little head-to-head separation would be nice.

Louisiana Tech vs. Troy-For some unusual reason, Louisiana Tech has felt they’re “too good” to take on Sun Belt competition. As a matter of fact, LT has two SBC teams in their state and has not bothered to take on either team since 2004. The good news is that LT has now scheduled a home-and-home with the Cajuns starting in 2014, but let’s take it a step further. We’d like to see the Bulldogs take on the bellwether of the SBC in the Troy Trojans. A loss by the Bulldogs might open their eyes to joining a much improved SBC, which geographically would make sense, instead of waiting for that invitation from C-USA that’s probably not going to happen. A win would make it evident that they’ve made their case and can hold out for whatever it is they’re looking for. Unfortunately, UAB would have to be bumped again to make this happen with Troy’s open date on the 1st.
Date: September 1st, 2012
Auburn vs. USC-With all the crap that’s come down the pipe over USC rule breaking concerning Reggie Bush in 2004, it’s only intensified the argument that Auburn was robbed out of a BCS title with their undefeated record. Next year would be perfect to play the game that never was. Sure the personnel will be different but the mystique will still be there. Both teams have open schedules in September, and USC will finally be available to play post-season football. Let’s play this one in Glendale, AZ for a majestic national championship feel.
Date: September 15th, 2012.

Iowa State at North Texas-If you follow Big 12/Big 8 football, you know how bad Iowa State has traditionally been. Fortunately, the Cyclones did something right when they hired Dan McCarney in 1995. McCarney turned around a really bad ISU program and landed them in five bowl games over the course of 12 seasons. McCarney won with very little talent in a very tough conference. In 2006, the Cyclones parted ways with McCarney, and fortunately North Texas has brought him in to revive their once dominant SBC team. While McCarney will need a year or two to get his guys in place, this would be a fun matchup! Of course there is the I-told-you-so storyline, the tale of a redeemed coach if you will, but this could be one of those night games in Denton with a packed house on hand at a beautiful nearly-new facility. Both teams have a potentially open date!
Date: September 21st or 22nd, 2012
Arizona State at Idaho-We know this matchup is never gonna’ happen, Arizona State would never take a trip to Moscow, but our job here is to push for what we think is good for the fans. Idaho fans were bamboozled by former HC Dennis Erickson who gushed about how excited he was to return to Moscow as head coach in 2006, only to bolt for ASU after one losing season. Erickson has an opportunist’s reputation (see also Bobby Patrino), and Vandal fans would love one more chance to “visit” with their former leader. The Kibbie Dome has been improved, the Vandals are slowly doing the same and an upset in Moscow would do wonders for the often-overshadowed Idaho program. ASU would need to dump their home date with FCS Northern Arizona for this to happen.
Date: September 1st, 2012
Florida at Texas-It’s all about the homecoming. New Florida coach Will Muschamp earned his stripes by churning out spectacular defenses at Texas the past few years. Unfortunately, the coach-in-waiting tag never stuck as Texas Head Coach Mack Brown decided he wasn’t ready to step aside. Muschamp bolted for Florida, and Brown is now on the hot seat as his Longhorns appear to be slipping after last season’s 5-7 record. This game would be intriguing in Austin, as a win by Muschamp’s Gators would really get Texas fans fired up about what could have been as opposed to where they’ve ended up. Here’s how it’ll go down, Florida pawns off Bowling Green to Wyoming who is pawned off by Texas, and these two go at it in the opener at Jerry’s World.
Date: September 1st, 2012

Virginia Tech at Penn State-We thought about playing this one in Vernal, Utah and calling it the Dinosaur Bowl, but let’s call it the Golden Oldies Classic! Joe Paterno in his 46th year, taking on Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer in year number 25! Both Coaches have overcome obstacles, and provided us with some classic football moments over the years. Now that we’ve mentioned the gushy stuff, how about the fact that this would be a kick a** game! This should be the kickoff classic to celebrate what would be Paterno’s 50th year at Penn State. Virginia Tech would need to drop their opener against Furman to participate but the fan interest would be astronomical. Heck, maybe we could roll out the bones of George Burns as a cherry on top!
Date: September 5th, 2015
Appalachian State vs. Michigan-It’s been said that you need to exercise the ghosts of your past to face the future, and this is the case for Michigan. By the start of 2014, we expect the Maize and Blue to be ready to make a championship run, which would be the perfect year to schedule the FCS powerhouse at home. The Wolverines have never been the same since that home loss to the Mountaineers in the Big House, and this could be a way to close the most embarrassing chapter in Michigan history…unless they lose again!
